Selenium Capsules
Incl. VAT, plus shipping
Product Description
Selenium is an essential trace element that the human body cannot produce itself and therefore must regularly obtain through food. Natural sources of selenium primarily include Brazil nuts, fish, meat, eggs, whole grains, legumes, and mushrooms. However, the content varies greatly, as it depends on the selenium concentration in the soil; soils in Germany are considered selenium-deficient. In dietary supplements, selenium is often used as sodium selenite – this inorganic compound is particularly stable and easy to dose. The capsules are manufactured under pharmaceutical/food-grade conditions.
Function
Selenium is incorporated into many enzymes and protein compounds (selenoproteins). These support the protection of cells from oxidative stress, are involved in the regulation of thyroid hormones, are required by immune cells, and play a role in maintaining healthy hair and nails as well as in the formation of male germ cells.
Ingredients
Sodium selenite, acacia fiber powder (bulking agent), hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (capsule shell)
