The Omega-3 Vegan (100 ml) consists of a unique combination: a plant-based, highly concentrated algal oil and a cold-pressed olive oil from controlled organic cultivation with a high content of polyphenols. With a daily dose (5 ml / 1 tsp), you receive 2,000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids. This daily dosage has proven effective in regulating the body's omega-3 levels, as demonstrated by measurements of the omega-3 index using fatty acid analysis.
The algal oil is rich in DHA and the fatty acid EPA. Thus, it is an optimal vegan omega-3 source for all those who want to eat free of animal products.
NORSAN ALGAL OIL
NORSAN algal oil is extracted from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp. This type of algae consists of microscopic single-celled algae. It is particularly rich in the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA and feeds purely on organic and plant substances, such as dead leaves. The production process of our plant-based algal oil is sustainable and environmentally friendly. The algae are cultivated in artificial seawater and then fermented in an aqueous environment. The crude oil is extracted using a centrifuge. This process is particularly gentle on the fatty acids. NORSAN algal oil is produced in an oxygen-free processing environment, so our oil is optimally protected against oxidation. Oxidation causes an unpleasant odor and negatively affects the taste. The oxidation value (TOTOX value) – also called "freshness" value (the lower, the fresher) – is in the low range of 4 and thus clearly demonstrates the high freshness of the algal oil. Due to the cultivation of the algae, the algal oil is also very low in pollutants. Since the algae are not taken from the sea, they are already very low in pollutants from the start. Nevertheless, a careful purification of the algal oil from potential contaminants and pollutants is additionally carried out. Production takes place separately from our other omega-3 products. The vitamin D used is also from a vegan source.
HIGH QUALITY AND FRESHNESS
The unique and gentle processing method ensures the high quality and freshness of the algal oil. These are crucial for a good taste and pleasant smell. The high quality and freshness of the oil mean that there is no unpleasant burping after taking the oil or capsules, and both products are particularly easy to digest. The pleasant taste of our Omega-3 Vegan oil is also rounded off by a few drops of natural lemon oil.
Thanks to its pleasant taste and liquid form, NORSAN liquid algal oil can be particularly well used in the kitchen, for example, mixed into muesli, quark, juices, or as a dressing for salad. The algal oil capsules can also be easily taken with a meal with some liquid.
ORGANIC OLIVE OIL WITH HIGH POLYPHENOL CONTENT
Our vegan Omega-3 oil contains 1/4 organic cold-pressed olive oil rich in polyphenols (>250 mg/kg). The exact content is indicated in the laboratory analysis.
Omega-3 fatty acids are particularly "sensitive" and must therefore be protected both before consumption and in the body. The particularly high polyphenol content of olive oil protects the sensitive omega-3 fatty acids from oxidation. Characteristic of a polyphenol-rich olive oil is a slight scratching sensation in the throat when consumed. The olives are supplied by Rafael, our olive farmer, who works according to organic guidelines. We regularly visit Rafael at his olive grove in Spain.

Through our unique and careful treatment process, we ensure exceptional quality and freshness of our marine algal oil. The freshness of the oil is absolutely necessary to guarantee a pleasant taste and smell. A few drops of natural lemon oil add an extra note to the pleasant taste.
NORSAN Vegan Omega-3 oil has a pleasant taste, and a teaspoon with breakfast can be easily integrated into the daily routine. Consumption does not lead to unpleasant reflux and spillage. Fresh algal oil (with a low oxidation level) smells good and has a pleasant taste. Omega-3 Vegan is particularly fresh, so it is easy to eat and digest.
Tip: Instead of taking the oil "pure," it can also be used well in a smoothie or as a topping for salad or other cold dishes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is flaxseed oil not enough? Many people think that flaxseed oil is sufficient to meet their omega-3 needs. It is true that flaxseed oil also contains essential omega-3 fatty acids. However, these are not the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, but merely the precursor of these two fatty acids, ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). The human body is able to convert the precursor ALA into the important omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. Unfortunately, this conversion averages only about 0.5 - 10%. Therefore, it makes sense to skip the conversion step and directly supply EPA and DHA to ensure adequate supply and compensate for an omega-3 deficiency.
From which algae is NORSAN algal oil obtained? The right choice of raw material – i.e., the algae – is crucial for the quality of the algal oil. The microalgae Schizochytrium sp. forms the basis for our vegan algal oil. This type of algae is a marine microalgae and consists of microscopic single-celled algae. This form of algae is native to mangrove forests on tropical coasts. It feeds purely on organic and plant substances, such as dead leaves. The special thing about this algae is that it forms the two very important marine omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA.

Different consumption recommendations apply to pregnant and breastfeeding women: 450 mg EPA/DHA daily (or 5 ml every 4 days). Do not heat oil; let warm food cool down briefly beforehand.
